Most Moodlu vehicles do a lot of highway kilometres. The D'Aguilar Highway carries freight, livestock trucks and quarry haulage between Caboolture and Kilcoy, and a loaded tipper at 80 km/h throws aggregate hard enough to star a windscreen in one hit. Add horse floats, tow vehicles and 4WDs that spend weekends on gravel, and you get screens that collect damage faster than a town car. The good news is that you are right next door to us. A fresh chip can often be resin-filled in under an hour. When the crack has already run, a windscreen replacement in Moodlu can be done in your shed or at our workshop, whichever suits your day.

Why Windscreen Replacement in Moodlu is its own job

The D'Aguilar Highway and Moodlu Windscreens

Moodlu sits along the D'Aguilar Highway just west of Caboolture, on the rural side of the Caboolture River. It is a district of small farms, horse properties and rural-residential blocks, with quarrying nearby. That puts heavy vehicles on the same stretch of road as family cars every day.

The damage is different from what we see on suburban roads. A car following a tipper or cattle truck is hit by larger stones travelling faster, so the chips are deeper and more likely to crack through. Side roads and driveways add gravel at low speed, and horse floats and trailers flick up stones for any vehicle behind them.

The practical advice for Moodlu drivers is simple: do not wait on a highway chip. Deep impacts spread faster than shallow ones, especially once summer heat works on the glass. Because the workshop is so close, a repair can often be done on your way into Caboolture. If a windscreen replacement in Moodlu is needed and your property has no cover, bringing the car in gives the adhesive a clean, dry place to cure.

About Moodlu

Moodlu has been farming country since the Caboolture district was opened for selection in the nineteenth century, with dairying, grazing and small crops on the river flats west of town. The D'Aguilar Highway became its main link, carrying produce east to the railway at Caboolture and, later, freight and commuters in both directions. Today the district mixes working rural land with lifestyle blocks, and it is still one of the closest rural areas to our workshop.

What we see most often in Moodlu

Truck-thrown stones on the D'Aguilar Highway

Why it happens

The highway carries freight, livestock trucks and quarry haulage between Caboolture and Kilcoy, and a loaded tipper throws aggregate hard enough to star a windscreen in one hit.

Why it matters

Heavy-vehicle strikes are often deeper than they look from the driver's seat, and a deep chip spreads faster than a shallow one once summer heat works on the glass.

How we help

We check whether a chip has already cracked through the inner layer before recommending a repair. A clean chip clear of the edge and the camera can be resin-filled, often on your way into Caboolture.

Gravel, floats and trailers

Why it happens

Side roads and driveways add gravel at low speed, and horse floats and trailers flick up stones for any vehicle behind them.

Why it matters

Tow vehicles and 4WDs that spend weekends on gravel collect damage faster than a town car, and their screens are larger to replace.

How we help

Large screens, bull-bar-mounted lights and aftermarket accessories are worked around. Mention roof racks, light bars and aerials when you book so the removal is planned around them.

No cover on the block when rain is coming

Why it happens

Plenty of rural properties have no shed or carport the car can be fitted under.

Why it matters

Fresh adhesive needs a clean, dry place to cure, and a rain delay at home means waiting for a dry day.

How we help

The workshop is minutes away, so you can drop the car at Aerodrome Road on the way into town and have it fitted under cover.

Calibrations that need a sealed road or an indoor bay

Why it happens

Some forward cameras are calibrated on a test drive with clear lane markings; others need a static calibration done indoors.

Why it matters

A gravel driveway will not do for either, so the calibration decides where the job is best done.

How we help

From Moodlu the test drive starts at our door rather than at the end of a gravel driveway, and static calibrations are done in the workshop.

What we offer

Auto glass work we take on in Moodlu

Full windscreen replacement

For a highway strike that has spread into a crack, or damage on the edge where the screen takes the most stress.

Fitted at our workshop or on your property, with OEM-spec glass and the seal checked before handover.

Book a replacement

Chip repair after a truck strike

Book it within days, not weeks.

A clean chip clear of the edge and the camera can be resin-filled so the original screen and factory seal stay in place. Waiting risks dust and moisture getting in and the chip spreading.

4WD and tow-vehicle glass

Large windscreens on LandCruisers, Patrols, dual-cabs and float-towing SUVs.

Tell us about any bull bar, light bar or roof accessories when you book so we can plan the removal around them.

Emergency auto glass

A screen that shatters on the highway leaves you stranded well away from town.

Call us and we will tell you straight away how quickly we can get there and whether the glass needs to be ordered in.

Why Moodlu Drivers Choose a Caboolture-Based Glazier

Being this close gives you options a Brisbane dispatcher cannot offer. If rain is forecast, you can drop the car at Aerodrome Road on the way into town instead of waiting for a dry day at home. And if a calibration needs a sealed road with clear lane markings, the test drive starts at our door rather than at the end of a gravel driveway.

  • Drive-in or mobile, your choice: the workshop is minutes away, and the van comes out to your block if that suits better.
  • Heavy-vehicle chips assessed honestly: highway strikes hit hard, so we check whether a chip has already cracked through the inner layer before we recommend a repair.
  • Tow vehicles and 4WDs are routine: large screens, bull-bar-mounted lights and aftermarket accessories are worked around, not used as a reason to reschedule.
  • Written, itemised quotes: glass, fitting and calibration listed separately before any work starts.

Questions we get asked

Should I come to the workshop or have you come to me?

Both work, and from Moodlu the choice mostly comes down to weather and calibration. If you have a shed or carport and the forecast is dry, mobile is easiest. If rain is coming, or your vehicle needs a static calibration done indoors, the Aerodrome Road workshop is only minutes away.

A truck threw a stone and it is only a small chip. Is it urgent?

More urgent than it looks. Heavy-vehicle strikes are often deeper than they appear from the driver's seat, and a deep chip is more likely to spread. Book it within a few days. If it is small and clear of the edge and camera, a resin repair should hold.

Can you work around my bull bar and light bar?

Usually, yes. Bull bars rarely get in the way of a windscreen, but roof racks, light bars and some aerials can. Mention them when you book so the technician brings what they need and allows extra time.

Who pays if a truck caused the damage?

In practice you rarely can identify the truck, so most drivers claim on their own comprehensive policy if it includes glass cover. Check your policy before booking. We can supply photos, the glass part number and an itemised invoice for the claim.

Can I tow a float straight after the new windscreen goes in?

Wait until the drive-away time we give you, then avoid heavy towing and rough roads for the rest of that day if you can. Body flex from a loaded float or rough gravel puts strain on fresh adhesive before it has reached full strength.
